Entry Level Chemical Sales
Chemicals company has need for an entry level inside sales representative with direct responsibility for an assigned list of customers not covered by an outside sales person. Responsible for making phone calls to customers to investigate their potential to use company products, what applications and markets are being served, and also to make “cold calls” to leads brought forth by other parts of the organization, including the web site. The Account Representative position is designed to be a developmental assignment with the ultimate goal of promotion into field sales. Intensive on-the-job training will enable the candidate to pursue increasing levels of responsibility within the company.
Requires phone coverage of a set territory, creating call reports, forecasting, budgeting, pricing, expense reports if needed, a plan of future phone calls, ongoing product training, preparation prior to each call made. Periodic visits to key customers are necessary. Develop the necessary relationships with processors to insure that sales objectives are met. The account rep should be in a position to enlist the help of the technical or other groups when faced with technical questions or issues.

Ability to use PC’s and corresponding software packages as tools for the job.
Good communication skills, combined with good organizational and project management skills.
SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, preferably in chemical engineering, polymer science, or related field from an accredited university/college.
Previous market/sales development or customer service experience is preferred.
Good human relations skills are required to convince outside companies and those within the organization to dedicate time to accomplish certain activities towards the development of an application or product.
Capability to assist field sales reps in development and follow up activities with potential or existing customers.
Enthusiasm, perseverance, and curiosity are essential qualities for success.
One to five years of experience in sales or the chemical/plastics industry is a plus.
